Gordan</B></div> <div> <B>Indiana Design/Build Legislation Stalled For Time Being</B></div> <bR> <div>  (11 May 2001)      Long-awaited legislation allowing Indiana public entities, particularly at the local level, to enter into design/build contracts, did not survive the legislative session. The legislation had stirred some measure of controversy, as the heavy/highway contractors' trade association, the Indiana Constructors, did not support the initial bill, originally proposed this fall by the building contractors' trade association, the Associated General Contractors of Indiana (AGC-IN).  The Consulting Engineers of Indiana (the professional engineers' trade association) do not feel the bill is necessary.  With pressing redistricting, budget, and property-tax issues promising to dominate the three-month session, getting legislative support to move the legislation through the House and Senate appears an uncertain task, especially if union support is not forthcoming.  <FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#0000BF" FACE="Arial" ><A HREF="http://www.state.in.us/legislative/bills/2001/IN/IN1279.1.html" TARGET="_top" TITLE="http://www.state.in.us/legislative/bills"><U>Read the text of the bill</U></A></FONT>.</div> <div> As always, please <FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#0000BF" FACE="Arial" ><A HREF="id26.htm" TARGET="_top" TITLE="LAW OFFICE OF ELIAS M.
