1998 US 45 (LaGrange Road) Resurfacing, Palos Park/Orland Park , IL. ($1.2 million)
Resurfacing and repair of 4 miles along major corridor from Chicago to Southwest Suburbs, using experimental polymer-asphalt skid-resistant mix. Accelerated project delayed one month due to repair work along parallel Harlem Avenue (only other major north-south corridor within 10 miles), but successfully completed within compressed 10-week time frame, with no overnight closures and with minimal inconvenience to motoring public.
1998 Illinois 83 Bridge Replacement, Palos Township, IL. ($900,000)
Steel pile-supported, integral-abutment concrete structure across creek, adjacent to environmentally-sensitive forest preserves. Decorative concrete treatments, special erosion control measures. Accelerated project successfully opened to traffic within specified five-month time period.
1998 107th Street/104th Avenue Traffic Signal Installation, Palos Township, IL. ($90,000)
1997-98 Ashland Avenue Truss Bridge Rehabilitation, Blue Island, IL. ($4 million)
Rehabilitation of 250-foot-long complex steel truss over major waterway (Cal-Sag Channel). Numerous problems involving plan errors/omissions, unanticipated structural steel repairs, deteriorated truss members, lead-paint abatement and repainting, concealed substructure deterioration, water main installations, and jacking/shoring of truss under full 800-ton dead load. Major deck pours successfully accomplished during winter period while keeping shipping lanes open to waterway traffic below. Extensive claims and dispute resolution.
1996-97 123rd Street Rehabilitation, Palos Park, IL. ($4.5 million)
Accelerated replacement of composite steel-beam structure and major rehabilitation of a second steel structure, replacement of 500-foot network of retaining walls, and rehabilitation of major roadway through small town. Work complicated by major utility conflicts, unforeseen ground conditions, major detour revisions, substantial drainage redesign, and special environmental considerations. Utility-hit litigation.
1995 131st Street Bridge Replacement, Palos Township, IL. ($950,000)
Replacement with 180-foot, pile-supported concrete bridge over functioning railroad mainline.
1995 Illinois 7/US 45 Bridge Rehabilitation, Orland Park, IL. ($500,000)
Extensive unforeseen deck and substructure repairs, accomplished immediately before Christmas shopping season adjacent to major shopping center. Comprehensive motorist-relations campaign.
1995 Lemont Road High-Level Bridge Repairs, Lemont, IL. ($150,000)
Finger-joint replacement, complicated by unanticipated wall replacement on major river crossing. Extensive public-relations outreach to minimize impact on motoring public.

1990-91 Cicero Avenue Rehabilitation, Cicero/Chicago, IL. ($6 million)
Major rehabilitation complicated by severely deteriorated underground utilities, design irregularities, badly deteriorated pavement, and numerous utility conflicts. Work included storm sewer main built under eight major utility lines in middle of busy urban intersection.
1989-90 Cicero Avenue Reconstruction, Chicago, IL. ($10 million)
Reconstruction of roadway in front of Chicago Midway Airport, with one mile of PCC jointed pavement. Work included $1 million+ of electric, phone, gas, and water main relocation. Extensive traffic staging redesign to accommodate heavy airport traffic. Numerous utility conflicts and unexpected ground conditions, requiring drainage redesign.
